540 sport rim cleaning products

Just bought the car, rims are a little ugly. I know how to keep them
clean once they are in good shape. My question is what do you use to
get them clean that first time?? These are the 17" rims found on the
97-98 Sport package - the ones w/the rivets around the outside edge -
