Re: Canadian News article

Regarding the post about the news article - comments made by Gordon
Sinclair.

Just to put this into the correct context.

Gordon Sinclair was a well know broadcaster and newspaper writer for may
years in Canada - specifically Toronto.

These comments were expressed by him, and while applicable to the current
tragedy, they were not written for this event.

While I am not sure of the date, I believe they were written to counter some
of the growing criticisms being levelled at the USA as it struggled with the
Vietnam war.

Gordon Sinclair has been dead for many years - but this still conveys a
message that we Canadians understand and generally know to be true.

However there is much more to the current situation. The USA was not
attacked alone. While it happened on USA soil the toll of missing and or
dead includes over 100 Canadians, an estimate in excess of 800 British, many
from other countries, and about 1000 of the total 5000 are said to be of the
Muslim faith.

Canada, as your American cousin in North America, and many other nations
will support you to the extent we can.
And we will continue to do so, however that support may not always seem to
you to be only in the ways that you expect.

Depending on how we all respond to this there is the possibility to
accomplish an end to terrorism, or it could also escalate out of all
imaginable proportions to which a loss of 5,000 would seem insignificant.
When you consider that some of the possible participants on both sides of
this have nuclear capability it is truly scary when we hear the calls for a
"quick revenge".

I hope that the USA will allow its friends to also support them so as to
help find the best, and correct, way to respond so that we truly accomplish
the goal - to hold the "guilty individuals" accountable for this action, and
to remove all future threat of terrorism.

That will also require that together we determine the true underlying reason
for it, and resolve to address those issues as well.

God Bless
