Waterpump data point

Replaced the water pump in my 94 325i this weekend.  It had the plastic
impeller.  No fractures visible, however when it dried I could see a
lot of bubbling in the plastic that looked scary.

At the same time, I replaced the belts and noticed something
interesting.  The ac belt tensioner didn't take a lot of torque to move
compared to the main belt tensioner.  It moved fairly easy while the
main belt took a lot of force.  Is this a sign of imminent ac belt
tensioner failure?  I do notice a slight thump when the ac compressor
turns on.  I'm wondering if this is the cause.
