In general..

The area of the contact patch is equal to the load on the wheel divided by
the tire pressure. As a tire loses air, the patch gets larger. Golf balls
do not behave this way.

Where the width of the patch is constrained by the tire section, the
length will vary to satisfy the above relationship. Of course. the patch
is not rectangular....
