Aaron,

(R+M)/2 is the definition of AKI (AntiKnock Index), a measurement
established as part of the gasoline price controls of the 70's.

87 AKI (regular gas) will suit any 528e under any circumstance.

I'm trying to figure out what BMW recommends/specifies for my 528e.  My
owner's manual says 87 AKI, or 91 RON.  The pumps (at least around
here) say
(R+M)/2 method.  How do I determine the (R+M)/2 equivalent to the 87 and
91
mentioned above?
