Re: Good and Affordable "Bimmer"

As I was once corrected shortly after I got my first BMW, "now that you
own a BMW, refer to them correctly. The cars are called "Bimmers" and
the motorcycles are called "Beemers", as in the "Bimmer" magazine for
cars and the "Yankee Beemers" motorcycle club."

My 2 cents on the affordable car subject, find a car that is in your
price range that has been extremely well cared for. This will keep the
maintenance costs down. Perhaps an owner that is in the local chapter of
the BMW club or someone in an affluent suburb that has taken the car in
for regular maintenance at a BMW dealer. Cars that appear to be a
bargain are often way behind in maintenance and will need a great deal
of time and money to get them right again. The older 6's and 7's are
beautiful cars but require more maintenance in my experience. They can
be complex and the parts/service are expensive, so if maintenance costs
are an issue, these may not be the choice for you.

Just my humble opinion.
