administrivia: mangled digests

i just received a report of mangled digests with end-of-line characters 
omitted.

a brief review of the digests in question suggests that this only affects 
aol users who have upgraded to the "latest and greatest".

the trigger is apparently hotmail and msn signatures in digest messages 
from users of those services.

there is a theoretical possibility that i can get the signatures stripped 
by the demime-ification software that i use; i am investigating.
