M5 engine at Daytona

I was present during an interview with Tom Milner - The engine in the car
was the M5 engine with almost no modifications (hmmm). The car was permitted
in the race because Grand-Am rules permit a manufacturer to use any regular
production engine in any body.

Does anybody have information about the V8 M3s seen today at Daytona, in
terms of what V8 block they are using, horsepower, and  how they are
allowed in GT class?
