<E30> Best method to run wire from trunk to head unit?

I plan to install a subwoofer and amp in the trunk of my '91 325i this 
weekend. What is the best way to run wire to the head unit? Remove the door 
sill? If so, how? It seems like it would break easily. Or, should I run it 
past the emergency brake and shifter?
