92 525i 4-speed AT doing funky things

Hello all,
I have a 92 525 with the GM 4 speed.  I just replaced the filter and
replaced about 4 quarts with Redline D4 AT fluid.  I took both pans off
and replaced both gaskets.  My questions are:
	
1) After having filled the larger pan until fluid flows out the side hole
(at operating temperature), do I also have to put some in the front pan
before I attach it to the bottom of the transmission or will the front
pan fill off of the larger back pan?

2) When I stop quickly and then quickly apply the gas, it acts as if it
disengaged when I applied the brake and then it just revs freely for a
couple of seconds.  Then it does engage, and if the rpms are up at all,
it launches.  I don't think it is slipping, it is confused about when to
engage and disengage.  What might this be?
