RE:E46 "Klunking Sound"

Hello.   I have a 2000 323i, Auto w/step, and I hear two different 
sounds coming from the rear.  The first is when I'm slowing to a 
stop I hear a slight klunk from the rear end.  It sounds like a sound 
I had in my old vette which was the universal joint.  But the vette's 
sound was really loud.  This one is felt slightly and also heard,
albeit a lighter sound.   The dealer said they couldn't find it,
and/or it is normal.   Sounds to me like they're a little full of,
well you know.   This sound is heard by everybody I've brought into 
the car.

The second sound  happens when I slow down and then place the car 
in reverse.  As I reverse I feel and hear a loud sound almost underneath 
the floor board but a little more towards the rear.

Can anyone give some input? Thanks in advance.
