sounds like you have a rarely fitted Lucas indicator light...
teasing aside, if the light is coming on, then the oil pressure warning
light wire has to be touching 'ground" along it's path...as that's the
way the circuit is designed to work...
example, no oil pressure= light on= circuit complete
oil pressure= light off= circuit incomplete
so , as metioned above, with the oil pressure light being feed +12 vdc,
the light will illuminate, anytime the circuit on the negative side is
grounded[ from the sending unit aka pressure switch] all the way back to
the light blub , it self, if the "ground were to happen on the other
side of the blub, you would have a direct 12vdc short, and either blow a
fuse, or fry the wire
