RE: Transmission Problems - Again!

Allan,
I checked that. I was hoping it was that but the level is normal.

Maybe the Fluid is low? Our Old Aussie Cortina used to take a few seconds to
slip into reverse - it was low on fluid.

Allan.

Subject: Transmission Problems - Again!

The transmission on my 1989 535iA seems to be acting up again. I had it
overhauled at about 110,000 miles. It now has 140,000 and running great
except that it clunks when I put it in reverse shortly after starting the
car. And it slips for about 2 or 3 seconds when shifting from 1 to 2 when I
am accelerating slowly. If I accelerate a little faster than normal the
transmission seems to work fine.

Do I have to replace the entire transmission or can these things be
overhauled for something less than $1,000. My last repair on it (had no
forward gears - only reverse) cost me about $1,300 and all the replaced was
one set of clutches.

Any advise will be greatly appreciate. Oh! Btw, how much is this car worth
as-is (just in case...)?

Thanks,
Tomas
