As I understand it, and I am by no means an informed expert, but I
have always heard that the insurance of the person driving the car at
the time of the accident is what covers the accident. This is why you
can rent most rental cars without extra insurance, because your
regular insurance will still cover you. Your insurance is based on
the car you own/drive, but really it follows the person, not the car.
So in this case, I would think that his insurance would cover it, it
doesn't matter if she owns the car, or if neither of them own the
car. But I could be wrong on this, so don't hold me to it.
