Platinum plug or not?

    I posted this topic a few weeks ago without reply...is there any set
rule about using platinum plugs on BMWs. My dealer, and a shop mechanic
are not crazy about doing this, saying they should be done every 15k.
What, I can't go by Japanese car standards?  Moreover, the service
indicator never goes less than 4 leds, in the 6 months I've had
it...what gives?
