<e36> Fuel Vent, Gas Gauge
The check engine light came on in my '97 328is. The dealer said
it was reporting a fuel vent problem but that it was fine. So they
reset it. They didn't charge me for it but they warned that BMW is
starting to crack down on this because its usually due to a loose
gas cap. In this case I'm certain the cap was tight. I checked it
immediately after the light came on.
I had another problem earlier. I filled the tank and the gas gauge
didn't follow. I thought perhaps I left the ignition on. Unlikely
since I always remove the key. The next time I filled it I made
absolutely certain that it was turned off and the problem repeated
itself. Guage read empty. It took a 100 miles for the guage to
return to normal but the OBC sill read the wrong range.
The next fill and all subsequent ones have been fine.
Anyone else experience this?
John
