Rear suspension noise

My friend just replaced the shocks on his '95 M3 w/ Bilstein sports.
After about a week, he started noticing squeaking noise from the rear,
whenever the road is rough.

The car has 50K+ mil, and the rear shock mounts have never been replaced.
(forgot to do it while he got the bilsteins).

I'm thinking that the squeaking noise is caused by the mounts. Is this
true??
