E30 water in trunk

I have a 1989 325is and because we have had quite a few rainy days here
lately,
I recently noticed that there was water in the trunk. It is in the well
where the jack goes.
I could not find a drain plug to let the water out, so I just soaked it
up. Is there a drain plug?
The seals around the trunk look to be in very good condition with no
nicks or tears. Does anyone
have any suggestion as to how the water might be getting in? Any
suggestion would be appreciated.
