      Don't start with different engines unless you want to spend more than 
the $1800+ repair quote.Just pick up a good used head and motor off;much 
better idea.Here's a list of BMW salvage yards.Try the BMWCCA "ombudsman"who 
help with things like these,assuming you're a member.They may be able to 
budge the insurers.
