It probably would especially in the summer weather 
given that with hotter air, you have less dense air 
which results in less fuel for the engine and that
results in less engine power. But it would be a good 
idea to wait and hear from actual K&N users. 

However there are solutions out in the market that 
would allow you to have the same effect of adding the
K&N cone air filter but ensuring that you have a 'cold air
intake' through the use of thermal resistant plastic. 
One such aftermarket kit runs about $395. I can send
the details if you contact me privately ( no affiliation
and no personal use of the said product...just read 
about it in a performance mag).
