1987 528e Stalling problem

Stalling problem, and idle fluctuating between 0 and 1500.  This sounds
like an unmetered air problem.  coupled with the "always on oil pressure
light", makes me wonder if the sensor has been broken off, and an air
leak is occuring there.  

I'd ask if you have noticed being followed by a cloud of blue smoke, but
then it would be too embarasing to explain why I ask that.  I'd check
all the air boots and tubes, oil filler cap gasket, etc for tears or
looseness.

Just speaking from experience with
'88 535is @ 182,000 miles
