E30 Coolant Problem

I have an '86 325e and the coolant warning light came on a couple of days 
ago and just went to check the level in my overflow tank and I found that it 
was full of what looked like thick foamy white soap suds. I was just 
wondering if this is a sign of bigger problem or if it is a usuall 
occurence? Any feedback is much appreciated.
