Vibration/Shudder

Recently my car has not been cooperating.  The idle is rough, rises to 
12-1300 RPM when it gets warm, but the thing is that it now shudders when I 
step on the gas.  It's OK just driving along- it's not the speed that does 
it- but the more I press on the gas, the worse it gets.  It's also not 
accellerating as smoothly or quickly as it should.  
I'm really not sure what could bo going on with the gas=shudder connection.  
The car is an 87 325
