A recurring thread over the years is "How much current can
my wiring handle?".  Well, given that you know the guage or
wire (not insulation!) _area_, the following chart, courtesy
fo Ron Stygar, will shed light on the topic:


The following chart shows wire sizes, capacity and color codes. If 
some of the color codes seem confusing, be aware that in German black 
is schwarz, brown is
braun, red is rot, orange is orange, yellow is gelb, green is gruen, 
blue is blau, violet is violett, gray is grau, white is weiss, pink 
is rosa, turquoise is turkis and transparent is transparent.
