<e28> Do I need to also replace the rotors?

Hi All,

I need to replace the pads on my 87 535is.  Do I also need to replace to
rotors.?
My mechanic does not think I need to.  There is no shake or shimmy,  and
the car
still stops well.  The pads are just getting low.

Also,  I (my mechanic) need to replace the front cranksaft seal.  Any
comments on this?
