Your dealer is completely full of caca! YOu can change the oil as often as you
like. The maintenence BMW includes with their cars includes SCHEDULED
maintenence - that is, all maintenence that the car requires. Additional
maintenence is up to you.
Now, the 15k mile maintenence interval is not unbelievable. If you take it easy
on your car and baby it (which NONE of us do), it's not hard to believe that you
will get that kind of mileage before your car needs maintenence. 10k miles is
more realistic. BMW uses synthetic oil which does not break down over time (a
fact, not an opinion) so the "3000 miles or your car will detonate!!!" crap
preached by the oil change companies is also complete caca. Just check your
owners manual. It's all in there.
And tell your dealer to read the manual, too. Seems like he could use a little
education.
