Track Day - New M5

Howdy all from Downunder,
I haven't posted for a while on either fo these digests (sorry for the cross
post BTW) but I thought I'd share the events of last Saturday.
Our car club had it's first driver training session at the brand new
Queensland Raceway. We had 32 cars, 6 instructors, and a real blast.
I'll post pics as soon as they're available, as well as a video taken from
the "roof-cam" mounted on my E30 Cabrio.
But the news all you guys want to hear is the new M5. While you lot are
still saying "hey, I saw one at the dealer today", one of our members, Bob
Hamilton, had his M5 on the track, throwing it around with wild abandon.
It is really something to see AUD$200 K worth of car coming on to the
straight totally sideways and completely under control. Bob also had his M3
there, fresh from the Indy Rally, and I went for a couple of laps with him
in that. Missed a ride in the five tho.....damn.
When I asked how the two compared, he said the M5 was like "an elephant on
greasy feet" compared to the M3, but was much quicker.
He could only get 185 kph out of the 3 on the short straight, whereas the 5
could easily go past 200 kph.
So there you have it. We've already had the M5 tracked. Let us know when you
catch up.
