<e36> Rear seat belts with child lock

I may have the description wrong, but can anyone with 96 or newer e36
describe how the rear seat belt action is changed for "child lock"? I'm
guessing it means that the belt will lock down after the initial extraction
from the reel to keep the child in better position. For reference, the <= 95
MY cars have free reeling rear seat belts.

I'm considering installing the latter model units in our '95 325i. They're
about $70 each from my local dealer, which seems to be a reasonable price,
if they provide the functionality I'm looking for.

thanks all,

Mike
