FW: E34 520i M20 Speedo Gauge

I've got a 1990 E34 520i M20 and I recently replaced  my speedometer gauge
coz the old one was faulthy. Now with the
new speedo, I noticed that the speeds are totally different. For example
before with my old speedo, at 4000 rpm (5th gear) I am travelling
at around 120 km/h, now at the same RPM, I am travelling at 140km/h!. Anyone
know how to test for a working and accurate
speedo?. I'm now not sure if my old speedo was inaccurate or the current
speedo I have is inaccurent or both!. Anyone know
of a way to test the speedo?.
