Draggin on....... L200247

To those of you who remember my registration issues with the CA DMV and
the SB42 law, it's still dragging on!! I can't beleive this. I got a
ticket for not having registration tags on 12/31/97. Three hours before
the new SB42 law was to take in effect. So, Mr. Police first jokes about
my 02 being too old to be driving on the streets in Cupertino... then
cites me for having expired tags on the 02. I didn't renew the tags
because following registration, I had to smog the 02. I already paid for
the registration, but in order for me to get the tags, I had to smog the
02.

So... I go to the sherrifs office to pay for the cite, and to the DMV to
pay for the 02's final registration, no smogging had to be done of
course. It's over ... everything's fine and dandy right?

WRONG.

I had to go renew my driver's license because it expired on my birthdate
07/10 of this year. When I wait in the line at the DMV for about a good
hour and half... the DMV could not renew my driver's license, because
the DMV records show that the registration had not been taken care of, I
showed them the registration certificate and since it's a year old, that
is not creditable. The guy behind the counter said that I needed to
bring him an "abstract" from the court to clear it in order to renew my
license. So. I went to the Traffic court today, to get an ABSTRACT.
Standing in another long line.. (FYI the traffic court is no longer on
the EL CAMINO in Sunnyvale. They transferred their traffic division to
Palo Alto.) The traffic court admissions, did not give me an abstract,
because the ticket is outdated, so I have to go through with traffic
court. Date for traffic court is on July 27. Which means, I cannot go to
the first "real" autocross for the GGC in Oakland. (I cannot drive with
an expired license)

UGH!

I'm asking for help if anyone have any suggestions with this case.

Let's hope this gets settled. A unique case indeed!

Thanks!
