Doug, yes you can do the switch, but the large brakes of the ///M3 make 
fitting 16" wheels a problem. therefor only some 16" wheels will work and 
actually 16" wheels will give you a good bit of flexability
on sizes......  Check with tire rack on which 16" models fit the M3, (there 
are not many) but if you want to, the wheels do exist.

you may be shunned by the ///M3 croud but you can do it, I have seen it done
