16 inch on a M3?

I was told that you couldn't put 16 inch wheels on an M3 because the wheels
wouldn't clear the brakes.  Is this a myth?  Just wondering in regard to the
fellow who is selling his C36 to get an M3.  I have a 325 and my brother has
an M3, and I can tell you from looking at them that the M3 brakes are a
bunch bigger.
