DME Mixture Switch

I remember reading somewhere (I thought it was the BMW Companion book, but I 
cannot find it there) about a switch mounted in the Motronic control box.

This came to light when it was recommended that I dial this switch to improve 
the idle mixture on my 535is. There is no opening in the box, but inside 
there is a potentiometer looking device with an adjustment facing the outside 
of the case (if there were a hole in the box, the control could be accessed) 
that requires a triangular driver to adjust.

Is this a pot or a switch, and just what does it do? Anyone?
