<e30> Non-airbag Steering Wheel

I have a later model e30 with an airbag steering wheel, and just picked up
an older e30 steering wheel without the airbag from the Digest.  My
mechanic is trying to convince me not to take off the airbag wheel and
install this one.  Other than the obvious (i.e., not having an airbag in an
accident and having to disconnect the airbag warning light bulb), are there
any other reasons for not making the switch to the old wheel?  TIA.
