Hello everyone,
I am planning to buy an M3 fairly soon. The 1988-1991 restriction is
because (a)I prefer the older body style, and (b)don't want to buy
anything older than 1988 or so (the desire for a BMW came because I will
only drive German, and Porsche's are out --I need a 4-pass. car).
Although I have done quite a bit of automotive work/repairs (I currently
have a VW Scirocco that I know inside-out) I am pretty much ignorant on
the quirks of M3s of that era, and would be very likely to be conned by
sellers.
I am looking to find out about problems to look for in an M3: mechanical,
electrical, etc., and I am hoping that there already is some sort of FAQ
about this. Also: peculiarities of the M3 vs. the 325s of that time.
Generally, any info I can get (maybe there is a website somewhere devoted
to M3s?). In any case, please excuse my ignorance, as I am almost
entirely ignorant about BMWs.
I would appreciate any help that I could get.
Thanks,
Elias
ps: is an asking price of $9990 for a 88 M3, 116K miles, needing tires,
and in (supposedly) good condition reasonable?
