Coolant Smell

I have been having the smell of coolant inside my 89 750iL that I just
bought.  Before I bought it I had my mechanic look it over and he said there
were no leaks.  But I still have this smell every so often.  It is not
constant, mostly on startup.

Also, what chassis is the 89 750iL and what years did they use that chassis?
