flashing AC lights

Hello all:

I have a '96 328i with the HVAC controls that have
the blue and red arrows with lights behind them.
The blue lights recently started twitching/flashing
in unison.

I assume either:
1. the bulbs behind the blue arrows are going bad
2. (most likely) the electrical current to the bulbs is getting
cut intermittently.

Anyone else ever have this problem?
