my new e34 535i vs 525i

Dear fellow bmw fans!

I just bought a nice conditioned e34 535i. Which I love so much because I
beleive it;s a great car. However, I collegue of mine (he onws 525i with m50
engine) says that 535i sucks. It's production was stopped because the engine
was so bad. He said that m50 is byfar superior in many ways to m30 and the
best thing I should do is to get rid of 535i. What do you guys think of
this?
