I am seriously considering purchasing a 1997 540i with 35,000 miles, 4.4ltr
engine, from a dealer. Has anyone heard of any serious problem specific to
this vehicle. If so, please E-mail me a brief note to >>
~~~~ No probs. with a 97. You should know, however, that you can get a
phenomenal deal on a 99' right now because there is "factory to dealer money"
on the 540's, My friend got a $50K list 540 for
$50K
less $4,500 discount
less $1,000 dealer money
less $1,000 mail in BMWCCA member certificate (current BMW owner)
so it ended up only costing him $43,500 + t&L for a brand new one. Compare
that to the price the dealer is telling you for a 2 year old used 97' model.
You MAY be surprised!!
You can go to: www.edmunds.com and look up exact invoice. Then cut your
own best deal.
Ihave the 5spd. auto and 4.4 litre V-8 in my 740iL & 840ci. Magnificent
engine!!!!
