<All> Happy99.exe Virus
Hi
One of the UUC digest moderators/monitors has warned that this Virus
(actually a Worm/Trojan Horse type) is making its way around the BMW Digests
(and internet Usenet groups etc).
Without going into allot of technobable (you can get that at
www.symantec.com and follow the Antivirus Research Center link)
I just wanted to say that a good Antivirus program (like Norton Antivirus
V5.0) that has the auto protection enabled (that's full time real time virus
scanning) will catch and clean it. You also need to update the virus
detection patterns monthly.
This worm commonly rides along as an attached file in an email (as do many
types of viruses). You can minimize the spread of this by getting an
Antivirus software installed on your PCs (as described above) and also by
deleting unsolicited email (ESP ones with attached files) from unknown
parties. These things can get out of hand....
Thanks to the moderators on the UUC digest. You guys are good.
