Since our BMW's are cooled by coolant, not water, the pump is a coolant
pump.

But if this is your very first effort at doing something mechanical on yo=
ur
car, you may want to reconsider.  Or at least get a friend that has done
similar work before to lean over your shoulder.  The job is not difficult=
,
but be careful to not stick a wrench thru the radiator, etc.  :-(

The Bentley manual has a good section on changing the coolant pump.
