Ventilation controls 1995 M3

I have two concerns:

* Is it normal when the 3 stage ventilation control knob is set dead center on
the  floor pictogram, for air to also be coming out at the windscreen?  A
recent trip to the local dealer told me that this was normal.  I would have
thought that if you wanted air to the floor and the windscreen you would put
it in between the windscreen and floor pictograms.

* I have had a much weaker flow of air to the passenger footwell than to the
driver's side footwell.  This is when the ventilation knob is set to floor.
Is this abnormal??  The dealer pulled apart the glovebox and "zeroed" in on
what they claimed was an incorrect installation of the duct work by another
independent dealer I take my car to.  A 1/2 hour after chargeable labor to me
since they claim this was the cause of the problem......no change to the weak
air flow.
