Re: 1999 740i Sport Package sighting - whoahhhh

The sales associate that I began working with last summer told me about the
740i Sport Package in August. I decided to wait to see and drive one
before I made the decision to buy. I am glad I waited. I took delivery of
my 740i Sport in early December and have not been disappointed.

The car definitely rides firmer than a regular 740i or 740iL. One gains
handling and loses some ride comfort, but I do not think that it too rough
by any means. The sportronic is nice, but not as nice as a manual
transmission for pure fun. On the other hand, traffic jams are easier to
deal with with the sportronic.

I seriously considered a 540i with a sport package, but I liked the room of
the 7 better. One thing to remember though, the tires that come standard
on the 740i Sport are somewhat useless in the snow. I have a set of stock
wheels/tires for the winter. Also, be aware that the stock tires will wear
out relatively quickly. One cannot have everything. The sport package
(mainly the wheels/tires) make the car look much different than a standard
7 series.
