E30 Rough Idle Question

I've been experiencing a rough idle on my '91 325iX (ever since an
Inspection II - go figure). Not the "roaming idle" some have described:
RPM's seem pretty constant, but engine sound and vibration are uneven,
pretty rough at times. Same thing with both cold and warm engine. Seems to
drive just fine under load, for what that's worth.

My first guess was the oxygen sensor, which is probably the original one
with 104k on it, but dealer advised that if there was a problem with it the
dash diagnostics would have indicated. I recently installed a JimC chip,
which neither helped nor hurt the problem.

Any suggestions?
