buying a 733i

Hi,
I'm new to this thing, so sorry for the simple question: I've seen a 1984
733i with peeling paint, but generally in good condition, with 148K, for
$1600, and was wondering whether there's a 7-series FAQ that I can look at
to know what to watch out for with these cars. If not, can anybody give
suggestions as to what to check first? Is $1600 a good deal, providing the
car's in good shape?
