Compression testing

Recently bought a 1995 525ia. Took car to independent garage that,
to my surprise, did not include a compression test in their buyers
survey inspection. Dealer also had no compression data though car is
"certified". Should I pursue the test though car seems to check out
otherwise? Dealer did mention that a better test is a cylinder
balance test...whatever that is. Car has 38k miles. Thx!
