'82 528e needs differential mount repair kit?

Have a shop that can repair differential mount by making new parts and
welding ($700).  Another shop says BMW made a kit but they havn't been
able to locate one ($350 if they had the kit).  First shop says kit is
no longer available.  Dealer couln't find anything on the computer
screen. 

The metal is cracked around the back two bolts where the different
rubber mount bolts to the frame.  Car has 124K and getting closer to
good running condition. 
Tips and ideas welcome.
