I did it when my rotors wore out the last time.. and I can say I haven't
noticed any difference.

1) the slots look cool
2) the slots will rust like crazy and then look like brown rusty slots
(if you get them cadmium plated they will look nice for a long time)
3) using stock rotors/pads in my E30 325i I never had any problems with
brakes running out at Mt.Tremblant or Mosport driving schools, even when
the car was being used by 2 people
4) with the power discs I had no problems either

5) one weird problem - when I got the power discs put on, I also put on
Pagid brake pads (which normally worked really well for me).. but after
a few hundred miles the brakes really SUCKED. If they were warmed up they
worked fine, but the first few times you braked they sucked real bad.
Put Jurids in and all was fine. Beats me why.

6) the slots are machined down to rotor minimum thickness... so when you don't
see the slots anymore it is time to change rotors. Convenient gauge for
figuring out when your rotors are done.

hope this helps (?)
