Renting a BMW 540 for a day or two in the UK??

hi all,
can anybody advise me to as to a good company to look at for renting a
540i(new) for a day?

I have heard some horror stories of companies complaining you
scratched the car and charging 1000s in deposits .... and keeping them
at the end of the rental period .. 

I was rather hoping to do this to satisfy my mind that I do really
want a 540i ... 

Anysuggestions would be appreciated.
