Despite my inability to shift, my motor is compressing normally!  That puts 
most of my fears to rest.  Thanks again for the advice, everyone.

Now, for something completely trivial;  I saw a set of tire valve stem caps 
with roundels on them not too long ago on an 850.  I've lost a couple on 
the M3 and since I'm replacing them, might as well investigate getting a 
set of those.  They look pretty sharp.

My dealer doesn't seem aware of their existence.  Does anyone here know 
where I can get a set?  TIA.

Finally, are there folks here on the list going to the 24hr race at 
Daytona?  I was wondering if there was going to be a BMWCCA corral there.
